Tools to support the communities

Since June 16, 2018, the effects of customary adoption and tutorship have been recognized by the Quebec government. In June, the FNQLHSSC distributed a reference guide among the communities. The purpose of this guide is to support the communities in setting up the competent authority and explain the different components and the procedures to follow to ensure recognition for customary adoption and tutorship. The reference guide is available on the FNQLHSSC’s website.

To date, the FNQLHSSC has received many questions regarding the competent authority and customary adoption. To ensure that all communities receive all the available information, the FNQLHSSC will organize conference calls (one in English and one in French) to better explain each component and answer community questions.

The conference call in French will take place on October 23, 2018, at 9:00 a.m.

The conference call in English will take place on October 23, 2018, at 1:00 p.m.

The FNQLHSSC remains available to support the communities in establishing their competent authorities. For more information, please contact Cedric Gray-Lehoux at 418.842.1540, ext. 2805.
