On June 9, 2023, the Minister Responsible for Relations with the First Nations and Inuit, Ian Lafrenière, presented Bill 32, An Act to establish the cultural safety approach within the health and social services network (the “Bill”), to the Quebec National Assembly.1 This brief sets out the concerns of First Nations regarding the Bill and puts forward recommendations that must be followed to ensure genuine implementation of a cultural safety approach within all institutions in the Quebec network, including those of the health and social services network.
