Culture

Culture at the heart of the collective wellness

Services designed by and for First Nations

We recognize the importance of culture as a factor having a positive impact on the wellness of First Nations populations. Whether it is with respect to language spoken, connection to the land, community spirit or even traditional knowledge and medicines, culture plays an important role in maintaining the health of First Nations.

As an organization that collaborates in ensuring First Nations wellness, we promote health and social services that are designed specifically by and for First Nations. We rely, among other things, on the interventions of competent specialists who take into account the traditional knowledge of the First Nations. For example, a workshop is offered to those who wish to develop specific services focused on the land that will allow them to perform better care and wellness interventions.

Cultural awareness

We support First Nations communities and organizations in the affirmation and transmission of their cultural values, practices and knowledge. We collaborate on the development of tools and resources that let culture shine through.

Our promotion of culture is also evident in all the partnerships and events in which our team members participate. From the youngest to the oldest, we make a point of raising the awareness of our various collaborators and the general public regarding the needs and realities specific to First Nations. We offer, among other things, training intended for future physicians from four Quebec universities to better inform them about the history and realities of the First Nations and Inuit in Quebec regarding their health, particularly in terms of the organization of their health services, the impacts of the residential school era, etc.
