The finding established by the First Nations demonstrating the need to renew the governance structure stems from the many disparities and various issues that affect their populations. The health and social services governance process aims to develop and support the autonomy of the First Nations in a perspective of self-determination and improvement of their wellness. At the end of this process, the First Nations will have developed and worked collectively to implement a new health and wellness governance model.
Since 2014, in accordance with a motion adopted by the AFNQL Chiefs, we have coordinated the Quebec First Nations health and social services governance process. Our role consists in particular in carrying out various work and ensuring the participation of all First Nations communities and organizations to ensure that the governance model is adapted to their realities and needs.
