The landmark agreement, totalling more than $23 billion, will compensate more than 300,000 First Nations children and families who experienced discrimination through the First Nations Child and Family Services Program and the narrow application of Jordan\u2019s Principle. <a href=\"https:\/\/afn.bynder.com\/m\/79458bffc6af3156\/original\/07-2023-CHRT-Letter-decision-regarding-FSA-FNCFCSC-et-al-v-AGC-T1340.pdf\">Read here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>On August 16, 2023, the Federal Court of Canada extended the deadline for class members to opt out of the class action until October 6, 2023. Under this program, municipalities, non-profit organizations, solidarity cooperatives, schools and higher education institutions as well as First Nations and Inuit bodies can submit projects.
