With a view to always offering quality services to the members of First Nations communities and organizations, continuous training of workers is essential. To this end, the FNQLHSSC is proud to be able to regularly offer workshops and training to foster the maintenance or acquisition of various skills. From January to June, training on the multiclientele assessment tool (MCAT) was offered virtually to approximately twenty people, in collaboration with the Centre d\u2019expertise en sant\u00e9 de Sherbrooke (CESS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The MCAT is an adult autonomy assessment tool. It supports the work of the practitioner or multidisciplinary team when receiving requests from the clientele, analyzing their needs, converting these needs into services and allocating available resources. In particular, it serves as an eligibility criterion for the Assisted Living Program and the Home and Community Care Program. It also provides a common language when transferring a client to a CHSLD in the province to ensure a smooth transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The entire FNQLHSSC team would like to congratulate the people who successfully completed the training and obtained their accreditation: Hillary McBride, Coralie Aumond and Twyla Wabie from Timiskaming, Vandana Chaubey and Kermichael Chahal from Kahnawake, Jo-Annie Ahern and Lucie Lechasseur from Pikogan, Beno\u00eet Pinard from Nutashkuan, Marie Soleil Rousselot and Emilie Bacon from Pessamit, Marika Desjardins from Pakua Shipu, Marie-\u00c8ve Boucher and St\u00e9phanie Lesage from Mashteuiatsh, Liette Tremblay and Nakina Chilton from Wemotaci, Yveline Brunel and Isabelle Nadeau from Opitciwan, Nancy Carignan and Marie-\u00c8ve Marcoux Mercier from W\u00f4linak, Susan Paxton from Barriere Lake and Val\u00e9rie M\u00e9rette from Lac-Simon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To obtain their accreditation, they first had to complete a two-and-a-half-day training course. Then in the month following the training, they had to properly carry out a first assessment using the MCAT form and submit it to Sarah-Ann Gilmore, trainer accredited by the CESS and clinical advisor at Uashat mak Mani-Utenam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since the communities now have these accredited assessors, they are able to assess the needs of clients with decreasing independence and thus respond appropriately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
