In 2008, a teleophthalmology project to offer diabetic retinopathy (DR) screening in four First Nations communities in Quebec was established. This first phase was subject to an evaluation begun in 2010 to assess the pertinence, implementation and cost benefits of the project.
\nThe deployment of the service in other communities as of 2010 led to several changes in the organization of services. Several items were reviewed to adapt them to the context and specificities of each community and region. Given that the screening has been implemented in the four pilot communities for more than five years and implemented thereafter in several other communities, the purpose of this second evaluation is to update information on the project and determine the medium-term effects on the organization of services in the communities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
