Aware of the major disparities in health and social services between the First Nations and the non-Aboriginal people of Quebec and Canada, the FNQLHSSC is highly concerned about the living conditions of First Nations adults with regard to the advancement of knowledge and practices in the area of active aging. To achieve its goal of improving access to health and social services by First Nations members, including in particular one of the most vulnerable clienteles in Canada, the FNQLHSSC will bring to light here the essential elements to consider along with the main challenges to be met in the work to improve the conditions associated with the active aging of First Nations elders. Its goal is to make the Quebec government aware of the current and future needs of First Nations
\nelders in terms of living conditions and active aging. Accordingly, several recommendations are set out to help guide the work of the Minist\u00e8re de la Famille and the MSSS. The brief begins with a presentation of the Quebec First Nations\u2019 social, health and economic context, followed by a discussion of the issues related to the themes set out in the consultation document on active aging.
