Physical activity

Physical activity for a healthy population

A mandate promoting physical activity

Our mandate related to physical activity consists of fostering the promotion and adoption of healthy lifestyles in the First Nations communities.

Promoting healthy lifestyles

Our team is working on designing various tools aimed at supporting the efforts of communities and organizations in promoting healthy lifestyles among the First Nations population. We act as a liaison and reference for any initiative aimed at promoting physical activity, the development of healthy lifestyle habits and the practice of traditional and cultural activities.

We provide managers with support for the coordination, organization and strategic planning of sporting and cultural activities and events at the national, regional and local levels. For example, our organization coordinates the participation of the Team EDN delegation at sporting events across Canada.

Kirano program

The Kirano program, which is implemented and administered by our organization, allows individuals to participate in a training and nutrition program for eight weeks. Our team provides the necessary support for the implementation of the Kirano program in First Nations communities as well as the training of people, provided by nutritionists and physical fitness specialists, who are qualified to work in the field.
