In terms of rights and remedies, our mandate is to advise and inform First Nations about their rights related to receiving quality services and care, meaning services that are culturally appropriate, safe and respectful.
Our team supports initiatives aimed at ensuring that the rights of First Nations citizens are respected in terms of access to quality services provided by establishments in the Quebec network or those located in the communities.
We also provide relevant information on advocacy bodies and organizations as well as assistance and support resources to people wishing to file a complaint, in complete confidentiality.
More specifically, whether it is because a First Nations person was refused access to a service, because they were not treated in a courteous or respectful manner, because they did not receive the information necessary to freely participate in making decisions related to their state of health, or, quite simply, because they are not satisfied with a service they received, our team makes available to the concerned individuals the necessary tools to report a problematic situation and receive the appropriate support.
