A meeting to take stock
On May 5 and 6, nearly 50 representatives from First Nations communities gathered at the Manoir du lac Delage for the regional community mobilization meeting entitled “Our Stories, Our Successes,” organized by the FNQLHSSC.
The event aimed to take stock of projects completed since 2024, share best practices developed in the communities, and identify areas for improvement for the next planning stages.
Highlighting successes and lessons learned
The discussions shone a light on progress made in recent years and addressed some persistent challenges, including partner engagement, working in silos, and community member participation.
Participants also reaffirmed the importance of perseverance, citizen involvement, and planning tailored to the realities and priorities of each community.
Inspiring initiatives serving communities
Several promising initiatives were presented, including community consultations and the creation of community portraits. These experiences demonstrated the benefits of intersectoral collaboration and decision-making grounded in the needs expressed by the population.
The FNQLHSSC also took the opportunity to present new tools designed to support coordination and mobilization efforts within communities.
Promoting sharing and collaboration
Participatory workshops gave attendees the opportunity to share their experiences, showcase their achievements, and inspire one another. These interactions fostered knowledge-sharing and the development of new ideas for future projects.
This meeting underscored the importance of collective processes, collaboration, and continuous improvement to better support the wellness of First Nations communities. By sharing their experiences and successes, participants helped strengthen a shared vision of community development for the years to come.
