Police profiling: New book with a fresh perspective on practices

The Observatoire des profilages (ODP) invites you to a web conference Profilages policiers: Nouvel ouvrage portant un regard croisé sur les pratiques (French only). The event will be held online on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Pascale Dufour, professor in the Department of Political Science at the Université de Montréal, and Francis Dupuis-Déri, professor in the Department of Political Science at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM), with the participation of several of the book’s authors, will be online to discuss the highlights of their work. AFNQL Chiefs denounce the CAQ government’s lack of sensitivity towards their territories

On January 13th, 2022, the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador (AFNQL) learned, through the media, that a Quebec Summit on Land Use Planning would be held virtually on January 27th. Not only does the program that has been unveiled completely ignore the concerns, rights, and claims of First Nations, but this announcement also goes against what Minister Laforest stated to AFNQL Chiefs during her participation in the First Nations and Quebec Grand Economic Circle, last November, in Montreal. New safer injecting wallet cards

CATIE’s pocket-sized wallet card Mapping the Body: Choosing a Vein for Safer Injection displays a map of where it is safer to inject drugs on the body, where it is less safe, and where it is dangerous. It has been updated this year to include more inclusive imagery and overdose prevention information. Postdoctoral fellow on Inuit diet, nutritional status and health in Nunavik

Indigenous lunch-and-learns for Winter 2022

Indigenous lunch-and-learns, organized by the School of Indigenous Studies, are back with an offer of online events for all those interested in Indigenous-related issues. The next session’s program offers various topics geared to address a number of issues, including food sovereignty, politics of Indigenous women in Quebec, an author’s writing journey, customary adoption in Quebec as well as missing or deceased Indigenous children. Call for applications: ethics expertise sought to serve on committee

The Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies is looking to recruit two new members to serve on its Ethics and Scientific Integrity Committee. One of the mandates of this committee is to propose guidelines on research ethics to the Board of Directors.
