Nourishing your roots
Nourishing Your Roots is a program that is specifically designed for elementary school students in First Nations communities. It is adapted to the culture and food availability of the different First Nations communities in Quebec. This is a turnkey program consisting of twelve nutrition workshops per school year.
Three workshops are proposed for each of the four program objectives to address variability with respect to the different groups of students and the resources available.
The workshops are composed of different fun and educational activities: games, cooking, creation, tasting, discussion, etc. The 20- to 45-minute workshops can easily be integrated into the educational program.
Who can use this program?
Teachers can facilitate the workshops whenever they wish. Others (such as nutritionists, school nurses, health workers, people in charge of school activities or any other workers wishing to promote healthy nutrition) can also be involved
