This brief was presented in support of First Nations families who have lost children after they were admitted to an institution. The recommendations essentially focus on four major themes: the circumstances and the causes of the disappearances or deaths; the need to specify the means used to support, assist and guide the families in their search; extending the scope and the period of the information requested and communicated; the facilitation of the process by which families can request access to information and ensuring an exhaustive search for information by the institutions concerned.
