In recent months, the FNQLHSSC team has tackled a very specific and unprecedented project consisting of a series of videos! The goal? To provide information and advice intended for First Nations adults and adolescents to increase their understanding of the justice system in Quebec, the legal process, rights and remedies and the various resources available.
Passing through Wendake, Mashteuiatsh, Listuguj, Pessamit and Kitigan Zibi, the film crew developed six videos that feature different First Nations actors. Six themes were covered with simple but original scripts: the arrest, the youth court process, the traps of the legal process and how it works, sentencing, conditions and healing.
Release scheduled for this spring
Stay tuned! The videos will be disseminated this spring on the various FNQLHSSC platforms:
While watching these videos, you might recognize some familiar faces… We won’t tell you more, you’ll have to watch them to find out for yourself!
In the meantime, we would like to thank all those who participated, directly or indirectly, in the production of these videos, particularly our partners: the Regroupement des centres d’amitié autochtones du Québec, Barreau du Québec, Quebec Native Women, Native Para-Judicial Services of Quebec and the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse.
