Support in nutrition for pregnant women and early childhood (Fondation Olo) 

The Fondation Olo now has in a project manager – Collaboration with Indigenous communities on its team. Her mandate is to support First Nations and Inuit communities and populations free of charge, in order to build together or improve the services offered in nutrition for pregnant women and early childhood. The collaboration could take several forms, to be determined according to local needs. La Tablée des Chefs’ Cook Up Your Future Program 
 
The Cook Up Your Future is a free program that aims to support the transition into adulthood of vulnerable youth by developing their food autonomy through three components: culinary kits, culinary workshops and employability training.  In order to provide young people with the tools they need, La Tablée des Chefs wishes to help the people who work with them to implement the first part of the program in First Nations and Inuit communities. Therefore, 250 culinary kits will be offered to youth aged 16 to 17 who are preparing for independent living. These kits contain: a La Tablée des Chefs cookbook, a lunch bag, a magnetic grocery list, a set of measuring cups and spoons, a wooden spoon and spices. A companion guide, designed to facilitate the use of the kits by youth workers is also included in each kit. For more information: marcella.devincenzo@tableedeschefs.org.  

NCCIH Webinar : Visioning the Future: First Nations, Inuit, & Métis Population and Public Health Series – Determinants of Health 

Visioning the Future is a series of webinars offering a vision for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples’ public health. Learning Objectives are to examine current inequities in mental and physical health among First Nations, Inuit, and Métis populations, to consider the social, political, and historical contexts that have been the fundamental drivers of these inequities to understand how re-establishing Indigenous Peoples’ health systems and ways of knowing and being are vital to overturning these inequities and to Explore practical strategies for achieving health equity.

Invitation to the Indigenous dinner-conference of March (French only) 

Before reconciliation is possible, the harm done must be repaired. Law 79 unlocks medical and religious archives, which makes it possible to find traces of missing children and thus answering questions for families. But how to obtain the confidence of the First Peoples in a Quebec law when they have lost children in Quebec establishments. The involvement of the Awacak Association with its field work is therefore very important.

24th International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) World Conference on Health Promotion 

The event brings together policymakers, practitioners, researchers and professionals from around the world to share advances in health promotion, in the context of current global challenges. Health promotion, which focuses on the determinants of health and well-being, offers a unique perspective, knowledge and know-how to understand and solve the current global crises – the COVID-19 pandemic , climate change, geopolitical conflicts.

Asset management training (for all) – In French only 

This training deals with knowing the roles of each in asset management, improving practices to offer sustainable services that meet the needs of the community, Identifying, documenting and using key data and information for the asset management, to contribute to informed decision-making by decision makers, to develop an asset management plan and develop it, to facilitate the transfer of best practices and knowledge for succession. 

This training takes the form of an orientation session, Eight two-hour virtual sessions, twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday) over five weeks and the creation of a practical “asset management” community on Workplace. to support participants

CIÉRA 2022 Summer School on International Rights and Issues of Indigenous Peoples (in French only) 

The 2022 CIÉRA summer school is officially launched. The training will have the specific objectives of introducing, on the one hand, the participants to the UN mechanisms and operating methods within the United Nations system and, on the other hand, to give an overview of the history of the struggle of Indigenous peoples (in Canada and elsewhere) for the respect and exercise of their territorial, economic, linguistic and cultural rights. The training will also aim to discuss the scope of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as the most comprehensive regulatory instrument for the rights of indigenous peoples. Finally, the training will aim to reflect on how to anchor the common issues of respect, protection and implementation of the rights of indigenous peoples in the current concerns of indigenous groups around the world.
