Quebec Indigenous Research Chair in Nursing’s scholarship for master’s and doctoral students
The Chair will provide financial support through research scholarships to master’s students ($10,000) and doctoral students ($20,000) whose projects align with its research areas:

1.. Enhancing the ability of health professionals to practice cultural safety and decolonize their methods

2. Developing wise practices at the structural level to promote equity and culturally safe healthcare for Indigenous Peoples

Rights & Freedoms Award 2024
On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the 45th anniversary of the coming into force of the Youth Protection Act, the Human Rights and Youth Rights Commission is highlighting a theme that concerns young people. National Indigenous History Month: Short Films
From June 21 to 28, 2024, the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity will showcase a selection of Indigenous short films, highlighting diverse stories and perspectives from across Canada. Learn more.

Comprehensive first aid and CPR training: including mental health and overdose management – Directly in your community
First aid and CPR training, including modules on mental health and overdose management, is available for communities. It is aimed at healthcare professionals, community workers and parents. There is even a specific course for young caregivers. The trainer goes directly into the communities to train as many people as possible. Prevention tips for poor air quality due to wildfires
During episodes of poor air quality linked to vegetation fires, fine particles can affect the health of the population, particularly those at greater risk, such as people with respiratory or cardiac problems, the elderly (aged 65 and over), babies and young children (aged 4 and under) and pregnant women. ISCDI courses for spring and summer 2024
The Centre for Indigenous Statistics and Partnerships (CISP) seeks to further Indigenous sovereignty by supporting communities to conduct their own data collection and analyses. ISCDI is one of the main avenues by which StatCan supports this goal. ISCDI provides without-cost, instructor-led training sessions on data literacy and utility so that communities can access, collect, and house their own data projects and products. Each of the offered courses focusses on tangible skills and processes which can then be applied in community for decision making, negotiation or otherwise. Senators want to hear from young Indigenous leaders!
This year, the Senate Committee on Indigenous Peoples is excited to launch Voices of Youth Indigenous Leaders 2024 to spotlight the strengths of First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities and their inspirational young leaders. Indigenous youth, aged 18 to 35, are invited to share their leadership experiences and ideas with senators. Some participants will also be invited to attend an official committee meeting in October 2024 to highlight their leadership efforts. Learn more.
