Twelve months to take care of ourselves

Every year, on February 1, the FNQLHSSC highlights First Nations Wellness Day to raise awareness in all communities about individual and collective wellness.

The theme for the 2022-2023 edition is “This year, my wellness is my priority!: Twelve months to take care of ourselves”. In recent years, the FNQLHSSC has created several tools emphasizing prevention, wellness and life promotion such as colouring books, creative journals, 60 inspiring cards and notepads, which have been distributed among First Nations communities and organizations in Quebec. Last year, a calendar was developed to encourage regular wellness activities. Given the popularity of this tool, the FNQLHSSC has created a second version of it while integrating the ideas of workers to improve the new tool.

The 2022-2023 calendar differs from last year’s edition through the addition of specific themes each month that are accompanied by monthly challenges. Among the themes are: Living in the present, Taking care of the planet and Stepping out of your comfort zone. This calendar promotes self-discovery and the acquisition of new healthy lifestyles while doing so in a fun and motivating way.

How do you use it?

  • Complete the assessment of the previous year and choose what you want to stop, start, continue and improve.
  • Determine your wellness goals for the year 2022-2023. These goals can concern health, nutrition, physical activity, financial or interpersonal aspects and even the improvement of an attitude or the acquisition of a new skill.
  • Read the theme of the first month and keep it in mind throughout the month. You can try to complete the monthly challenge if you want.
  • Enter the activities that you will prioritize for each season based on your preferences and interests on the pages intended for this purpose.
  • Add your appointments and other important notes in the small boxes of the month.
  • At the end of your year, answer the reflective questions on the twelve-month review page.

Use it for yourself and your family to strike a satisfying balance in your life!
