This brief was prepared as part of the consultation on educational childcare services by Mathieu Lacombe, Minister of Families. The consultation was undertaken to help guide the Minister in the process of amending the Educational Childcare Act(CQLR,c.S-4.1.1) so that educational childcare services adequately respond to the current and future needs of children and families. The Ministère de la Famille et des Aînés (MFA) will conduct a separate consultation with First Nations and Inuit owing to their distinct realities, thereby ensuring that their perspectives are taken into consideration. The First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Health and Social Services Commission (FNQLHSSC) and the Assembly of First Nations Québec-Labrador (AFNQL) will participate in the consultations on June10,2021, in the capacity of organizations that have entered into a delegation agreement with the MFA.
